Admittedly, Jim does make Olaf the character you love to hate in the movie, but he's almost adorable, and yet absolutely perfect in the role. That's ok, since the movie wasn't supposed to be exactly like the books. He added a teensy bit of comic relief to the film, which is not as bleak as the Series.

It's worth it to purchase the DVD just to see the outtakes and extra stuff with Jim in his various Count Olaf disguises. I was laughing so hard I ached when I watched him, especially as he ad libbed as Captain Sham.
