In The Reptile Room, Book Two of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, the Baudelaire orphans find themselves living with Uncle Monty, a kindhearted but naive man whose interest in snakes (he is a renowned herpetologist) proves to be more reptilian than he imagined.
